On Thursday November 7, 2024, our dear mother passed quietly at the age of 91 with her children Janet, Russ and Theresa at her side at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg.
Mom was born on a farm in Venlaw, MB. At seventeen years of age she moved to Winnipeg where she met Dad and they married on June 4, 1955. They raised their three children in Winnipeg in the home they designed and had built. They enjoyed family vacations, cottaging, playing crib, fishing, blueberry picking and getting the whole family together for celebrations.
Mom worked at Eatons mail order and then at CRA. She was passionate about knitting, crocheting, cross stitch and sewing. Besides crib she liked playing bingo, solitaire and doing crosswords and word jumbles and watching Wheel of Fortune with Dad.
Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Mike of 64 years on April 29, 2020. Also, by her father William Kozarchuk and mother Dora Kozarchuk (nee Perchaluk), and 10 siblings, John, Morris, Vicky, Mike, Nellie, Joe, Walter, Annie, Helen and Frances.
Mom loved all of us as we did her. She is survived by her three children, their spouses and six grandchildren: Janet (Steve) (Wayne, Austin) Goddard, Russ (Denise) (Jen, Dave) Okun, and Theresa (Bruce) (Kevin, Sheila) Mogg.
A private family service and celebration of life for Mom and Dad was held on November 15, 2024 at Green Acres Funeral Home. All six grandchildren were pallbearers.
We would like to thank all staff of “angels” at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for caring for our mother in a kind and compassionate manor for nearly 2 years. Its coziness was a perfect fit for Mom and a place she called her new home.
Donations may be made to The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg.

Sorry to hear the loss of your Mom, Grandma. I have great memories of going to your parents home and raiding the game closet in the basement. There was never a dull moment in your house. Thank you for those memories Mary and Mike Okun. May you rest in peace. Vichna Pam'yatʹ - Posted by: Anna Hlady (Cousin ) on: Nov 23, 2024

I wish to express my condolences re loss of your mom, Mary Okun. I met her once as a 6 yr old in company of my mom. I did do a family tree book with Joe Kozarchuk included as Joe was our neighbour. The family near Swan River did not want to be in the family tree book. The name of the book is Nostalic Roots found in Ottawa Legislative library, MB Legislative library and MB genological society. This 500 page book was a success as a legislative librarian recognized it as local history book. To us it is a family tree book. You may contact me, 204-477-1876 or iriskozarchuk07@gmail.com. I am a retired nurse residing in Wpg. - Posted by: iris kozarchuk (My grandfather was Fred Kozarchuk. Fred & William Kozarchuk were brothers. Fred had a son Nick who) on: Nov 23, 2024
