Peacefully at Betel Home in Gimli on November 19, 2024 Mom passed away at the age of 93 years.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Ned, infant son, parents, Olga and Josef Valka, brother Joe (Nettie), sisters, Emily (Jerry); Betty (George), Mary and Anne (Ed).

She will be remembered by her children, Lyle (Rosemary), Myles (Jean), Gwen (Chris) and Cory (Marie); her grandchildren, Alison (Dean), Owen; Curtis (Jake); Tim (Lauren), Scott (Ashlee), Michelle (Ben), Joel (Chelsea) along with 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; as well as Godsons, Larry Valka and Barry Hudyma and special friends, Alice Boitson and Delores Darowany.

Mom was born in Fraserwood and then the family moved to Teulon where she resided until April 2019.

Mom enjoyed crafting, baking, cooking, gardening, sewing and knitting.

She was first employed as a school teacher at Skogan School. After raising her children she took a healthcare-aid course and worked at Goodwin Lodge in Teulon for 21 years. But she most enjoyed looking after her grandkids, visits from them, phone calls or facetime with them.

We would like to thank all staff at Betel for making Mom feel welcome and also for the care she received especially in her final days. Words cannot express our gratitude to the staff. There are too many to mention by name.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Gunton - Greenwood Community Hall, Gunton, MB; viewing at 10:30 a.m. with interment at Windsor Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Mom’s wish was for donations to the Windsor Cemetery c/o John Logan, Box 246, Teulon, Manitoba, R0C 3B0.
