DAVID PAUL LABRAM
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved David Paul Labram, after a 14-year battle with cancer. David departed peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. Born in Southampton, England, David immigrated to Winnipeg at eight years of age alongside his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Christopher and Ivy Labram, and is survived by his older brother, Robert (Teresa). He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 29 years, Karen, his daughter Aysia, and son Jaden, sister-in-law Diane Sato, and nephew Tache.
David loved sports and was always motivated to excel. In school he played football, volleyball and basketball. Later, he took up both snow and water skiing. In his later decades, David enjoyed golfing, twice scoring a hole-in-one. He also loved bowling and regularly played in the men’s senior league at Chateau Lanes. In 2022, his high school football team, the Sisler Spartans was inducted into the 2022 Football Manitoba Hall of Fame.
Throughout David’s working years, he was a true “Jack of all trades,” and excelled at everything he did. In his final decade he worked at Rossmere Golf and Country Club, where he was well known and appreciated for his strong work ethic and friendly face, not to forget his quirky sense of humour. David also took pride in volunteering, devoting countless hours to his community. Most of all, family was David’s passion, and most impressive was his perseverance. Despite his illness, his thoughts were often of others before himself. Throughout his multiple rounds of cancer and treatments, he maintained a positive attitude and refused to let it define him.
We would like to thank the many wonderful staff at CancerCare MB for all their care and support over the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in David’s memory to CancerCare Manitoba, or the Japanese Canadian Association of Manitoba (JCAM).
Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life arrangements are pending, to be held in 2025.
