NORBERT (NORM) OSTERMANN
Born: Apr 23, 1948
Date of Passing: Nov 17, 2024
Offer Condolences or MemoryNORBERT (NORM) OSTERMANN
Norbert (Norm) Ostermann, 76, of Lockport, Manitoba, died suddenly and unexpectedly November 17, 2024.
He was born on April 23, 1948, to Maria and Joseph, in St. Boniface. Norm attended schools in Cloverdale and Selkirk, and then went on to the farm with his brothers Fred and Helmut and was very proud of their enduring relationship. Together they created Ostermann Farms Ltd.
He was exceptionally proud when his son Clarke and nephew John took over the farm. He enjoyed working alongside them, his brothers, Aiden, Jude, and Isabel. Norm loved being a farmer and continued to work on the farm until his untimely death.
He married Diane on October 5, 1974, and they built a home on the farm. They had two children, Heather and Clarke, and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Together they had many adventures. For many years, they spent winters in Florida or Texas. They visited several other destinations including China, Bahamas, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Nashville and Las Vegas. They also enjoyed many trips with lifelong friends and their families.
Norm was an avid curler, both in men’s and mixed curling for many years. Norm loved golfing with family and friends, both within Manitoba and while on vacation, where new relationships were made. He especially enjoyed getting together with lifelong friends to play cards, which happened weekly for many decades, and continued until his death. He was a member of the Little Britain Schützenverein and enjoyed the German tradition and camaraderie.
He is survived by his loving wife Diane, children Heather, Clarke and Catherine, precious grandchild Ashlyn, siblings Fred (Marianne), Hilda, Hubert (Carmen), Al (Thea), Margaret, Helmut and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Maria and Joseph, nephew Kurt, and in-laws Tina and Dieter.
We would like to express our thanks to the ambulance attendants, first responders, RCMP, as well as the staff at Selkirk Regional Health Centre.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Margaret’s R.C. Church located at 103 Little Britain Road.
