I was most disheartened to learn of the passing of my friend, Arleen Catherine Ellen Parrot-McLean. She passed Monday morning, November 18, 2024. Arleen and I were friends for almost 80 years. She was a scallywag, and she informed me this year that I was a little brat. I, Joan Lundy-Hart, was asked by the family to write this obituary because I have known her the longest.
Arleen was predeceased by her father Glenn, mother Clara, brother Dr. James C.W. Parrott, and husband Joe.
Survived by her two nephews, Crawford (Tracey) and Marshall, great-nephews, Jesse, Cody, sisters-in-law Inez and Theresa, friends, Wendi and Brent Rice, plus their family.
Arleen was educated in Oak Lake, and, after graduating she moved to Brandon, residing there until her passing.
She remarked after how fortunate we had been growing up in Oak Lake.
Arleen had a great sense of humor, was a very good cook, and had a lovely singing voice. She recited poetry and sang “My Alice Blue Gown” in Virden at the Music Festival, was adjudicated and did well.
She will be missed by many. She is the last person to have put me in my place. I will miss her for a long time.
I loved her - she made me laugh! P.J. Hart.
A graveside service will be held on Monday December 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Brandon Cemetery to Celebrate Arleen’s Life.
Friends that so desire may make a donation in Arleen’s memory to Funds for Furry Friends c/o D’Arcy Barker Money Management Counsel, #208-740 Rosser Avenue, Brandon, MB R7A 0K9.
