LUCILLE ANNETTE BEATRICE CARRIERE
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lucille Carrière (née Vandale) on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at the age of 88. Lucille passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Villa Youville in Ste. Anne, Manitoba.
Beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Lucille had an enormous heart and was devoted to her family who were always her priority.
Born in Hoey, Saskatchewan, Lucille moved to Manitoba to pursue her passion in education, and had a fulfilling career spanning over 38 years as a teacher, finishing at École Saint-Joachim in La Broquerie. In retirement, she enjoyed cruises, golfing, gardening, playing cards, and entertaining family and friends.
Moreover, Lucille was an active participant in her community. She was a board member at Le Chalet, and volunteered at the Bibliothèque de La Broquerie and the Paroisse Saint-Joachim.
Lucille leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, cherished by her husband of 68 years, Jean, her children Roland, Jeannine (Gilbert), Simone, Colette (Grant), Marc, and also Raven, Aaliyah and Jean who she raised as her own, as well as 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sisters Muriel, Bernice and Effie, and brother Larry, as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Lucille was predeceased by her parents Maria Poitras Vandale and Simon Vandale, her son-in-law Mike Petroff, as well as numerous brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held in May 2025 at l’Église Catholique Saint-Joachim in La Broquerie, MB.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Villa Youville for taking great care of Lucille.
Mom, Mémère, you were such a role model to all of us; we will cherish every lasting memory we have of you.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Villa Youville, the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society.
