THERESA ELIZABETH BATULLA


Peacefully, Theresa Elizabeth Batulla (nee Iwasienko) passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Rideau Park Personal Care Home in Brandon, Manitoba. Her loving smile and caring heart will be greatly missed by many.

Theresa was born in Winnipeg on September 5, 1924, to the late Joseph and Anna (Fuga) Iwasienko. She was a graduate of business college and enjoyed working at various job locations including the Beacon Theatre, Eaton’s, the Tall Shop and later her daughter Chris’ Clothing store (Crizia Boutique). Theresa lived life to the fullest: swimming, bowling, curling, cross country skiing, travelling and spending time at Grand Beach with her husband Myron. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who took an active interest in all her family’s activities. Theresa made sure her family recognized their Ukrainian roots with amazing feasts.

Theresa is survived by her daughters: Christine Jefferson (Bryan), d’Arcy Batulla (Jan Thorsteinson), Barbara Batulla (Doug McAndrew); her grandchildren: Sandra Jefferson-Emmons (Ian), Christopher Jefferson, Brendan and Colin McAndrew; her great-granddaughters, Reise and Zoey Jefferson; many nieces and nephews as well as her sisters-in-law: Irene Iwasienko, Rosemary Iwasienko and Nadia Tycholis (nee Batulla). She was predeceased by husband Myron Batulla and brothers: Frederick, Michael Iwasienko and nephew Ricky Batulla.

Theresa’s family wishes to thank the staff of Rideau Park Personal Care Home for the seven years of loving care that they bestowed on Theresa.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date at All Saints Cemetery, Winnipeg.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Theresa may be made to the "Recreation Program", Rideau Park Personal Care Home, 525 Victoria Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 6S9 or to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200-17th Street East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 7M6.
