On November 17, 2024, Chantal Swistun (née Kolly), beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 62. She was born on July 21, 1962, the fourth child of Rose and Adrien Kolly. She was raised in the small town of Dufrost, Manitoba and attended school in the nearby town of St. Pierre-Jolys.
Chantal was a very caring person and went on to study Nursing. She became a Registered Nurse and worked for several years at St. Boniface Hospital. During her nursing career she also worked at the Municipal Hospitals in Winnipeg caring for the elderly, where she met some of the people who would become her lifelong friends. During these years she was introduced to Tom Swistun and would later become his beautiful bride.
Following a back injury and subsequent surgeries her nursing career was limited. She returned to university and received her Bachelor of Nursing Degree. Chantal worked as a Public Health Nurse following graduation and also as a pharmaceutical sales rep. Following the birth of her three loving sons, she eventually left nursing and joined the family business Birds Hill Gravel working as a bookkeeper. She found she enjoyed accounting and business and also worked as a bookkeeper and Safety Officer for Kornerstone Masonry. Poor health due to the multiple surgeries she had to endure forced her retirement in 2017.
Chantal enjoyed knitting and crocheting, golfing with her friends, travelling and especially buying and trading crystal figurines. She became so knowledgeable about crystal figurines that she often appraised other people's collections.
Chantal is survived by Tom, her loving husband of 38 years; and their three children, Collin, Clayton, and Garrett, all of whom she was very proud of. She also leaves behind and was very close to her mother Rose Kolly; her brothers, Louis (Jenny) Kolly, Denis Kolly, Robert (Rosanna) Kolly; her sister Eveline (Meril) Rivard; and many nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
