HENRIQUE KASDORF

Henrique Kasdorf, age 72 of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away and went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 2, 2024, at St. Boniface Hospital when his heart failed him.
Henrique was born in Curitiba, Parana, Brazil on June 22, 1952. He attended Colegio Erasto Gaertner, a private Christian school, in Curitiba. He went on to attend Federal trade school, Escola Tecnica, to pursue his dream becoming an electrician. This degree allowed him to spend the next 17 years working at Placas do Parana, in Curitiba.
He immigrated to Canada in 1978 and studied at Red River Community College in his pursuit of becoming Power Technician at Manitoba Hydro, which he achieved in 1979. This was where he worked until he retired in 2017. He loved his job which took him to many parts of the province, allowing him to golf at courses throughout Manitoba.
He was baptized in 1985, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, joining North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, serving in various capacities, allowing him to use his God given gifts.
He had a love for sports, travel and adventure, but above all he loved his family. To him a picture only had value, if his family members were in them. He was his family’s biggest fan and always let them know it.
In 1984 he travelled back to Brazil in hot pursuit of his prize, Helga Fast. Later that year on Christmas Eve he would ask her to be his wife. The following year in 1985 he would change her autograph, and this was where their beautiful story began.
Then in 1987 they were blessed with a son, Charles Wellington Kasdorf. Henrique didn’t know it then, but this would end up being his greatest life’s accomplishment. Henrique instilled strong family values and always made know that God was the center of everything.
Life had its challenges and struggles, but Henrique knew that there was no problem that couldn’t be solved and there was no task that could not be completed. His care and dedication were evident in all he did.
If there was something which most would think was minor, he would still treat it as a major, because he grew up with the, “if you going to do something, you do it right and the best you can,” even if it sometimes took longer than expected.
There’s a song by Frank Sinatra, “I did it my way” and that is exactly how Henrique lived his life every day until the day he passed.
In the last year of his life, he did a solo road trip to Vancouver skiing along the way. On the way home Helga would join him in Vancouver for one last road trip together. This summer he was able to go skydiving with his son, passing on his fearless love for adventure.
The family would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, for the care provided to Henrique and the accommodations they made.
He will be deeply missed and survived by his wife, Helga and son, Charles Wellington and fiancé, Carolyn Joyce. Sisters, Ana, Edite and Hildegard of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Agatha Kasdorf Reinke with children, Karin Elizabeth Reinke, Marvin Andreas Reinke spouse Larissa and families and Carlos Henrique Reinke all of Curitiba, Brazil. brother-In-law, Roberto Fast spouse Hannelore of Spain with children Rodney Fast spouse Johanna, Arno Martin Fast spouse Marga with families in Germany.
Predeceased by his father, Henrique Kasdorf in 1981 Curitiba. Mother, Maria Kasdorf in 1995 Winnipeg. father-in-law, Waldemar Fast in 2020, Brazil. brother-in-law, Vendelino Reinke in 2021 Curitiba. mother-in-law, Alice Fast in 2023, in Brazil. Sister, Marilene Kasdorf in 2023, in Winnipeg. Sister, Erna Kasdorf in 2024, in Winnipeg
In memory of Henrique and in lieu of flowers we invite you to consider a donation to North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren midweek kids' club ministry.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 9 at North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Road with viewing prior to the service. Interment at Glen Eden Cemetery, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, Manitoba. Link to live service on Friends Funeral website.
