DEAN WILLIAM LAROCQUE

July 8, 1960 - November 29, 2024

The family of Dean Larocque is sad to announce his sudden, unexpected passing at home on November 29, 2024. He was predeceased by his parents, Nellie (2010) and Fred (2015) and partner, Kim Anderson (2022).

Left to remember him are brother, Mark and sister Wendy (David) Bobbee as well as nephews Jeff, Scott (Kiah, Emerson, Archer) and Travis (Sheena, Leah). He also leaves behind extended family and friends who have some memories of colourful escapades he was known for, mostly in his youth.

Dean worked for some smaller enterprises, mostly away from home, until he decided to get his pipefitters’ ticket. It was with this turn in life that he became a proud union member. He spent most of this career in Alberta, working on oil upgrader projects while always maintaining a residence in Winnipeg. He retired in 2022 and spent the last two odd years living on his own.

He was compassionate for, and could be outspoken, about the plight of people less fortunate than he was. He didn’t have any hobbies or interests that kept his hands and mind busy when not working but he spent a lot of time reading. He sometimes talked about the books he’d borrowed from the library and had a keen memory for facts that seemed to come out of the blue.

Cremation will take place and an informal gathering will be held next year when the weather is warm. He will be interred in Fisherton Cemetery with four other generations of extended family that preceded him.

Rest in peace brother.

We love you and will miss you deeply.

  • Dean Laroque was a very good friend of mine! Every time we would talk it would never be a short conversation. He was always trying to outwit me with sports history and we had many battles over who was the greatest in every sport. I worked as his partner in our trade and he truly cared about the safety of every single person on the job. He was a true professional! I will miss you little buddy!!!! I will see you on the other side my friend!!! ADIOS AMIGOS - Posted by: Gunner Antos (Friend) on: Jan 09, 2025
