WAYNE GERALD STRUTHERS

May 20, 1965 – December 7, 2024

Wayne was born on May 20, 1965 in Davidson, SK and passed away in Winnipeg on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the age of 59 years.

Wayne was the youngest of the 5 “Struthers Brothers” from parents, Jack and Doreen. He was particularly strong in athletics from a very young age and throughout his whole life; especially baseball and hockey. Wayne loved following the statistical achievements of all sports. He enjoyed supporting different baseball leagues, as a commissioner or an owner and was always up for a good hockey draft.

Wayne was a reserved and kind man and a lover of his family, friends and golden retrievers. He was a loyal employee of Loblaws for over 30 years.

We would like to extend our gratitude to those who cared for Wayne and our family over the years during his medical journey. Although Wayne faced many health challenges, he was always very particular about making sure his family remained hopeful.

Wayne was survived by his wife of 34 years Laura; son, Eric; daughter, Michelle (Shea); grandson, Alexander; granddaughter, Charleigh; our faithful golden Drebin; sister-in-law, Marie and Lynda; aunt Marjorie Maddigan and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Doreen; brothers, Dale, Rick, Garry and Jim; nephew Scott; great-grandma Grace, aunts and uncles; golden retrievers Monty, Willow, Gus, Dion and Medi.

Flowers are gratefully declined, donations in Wayne’s memory may be made to the Brandon Humane Society or those that wish to contribute towards the purchase of a memorial bench may contact goldendogmemorial@outlook.com .

A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at a later date during the upcoming baseball season, when his favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals are playing.
