Scott is survived by his wife Marilyn (Payne), his children, Cameron, and Kaleigh (lan) as well as his precious grandchildren, Elliot and Lily.
He is also survived by his brother Grant (Betsy), brothers-in-law, Gordon (Heather) and Alan Payne, sister-in-law Diane Johnson, many special nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Scott was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Margaret Preston (Yorkton), sister-in-law Beverly Kamminga, brother-in-law and best friend Ken Johnson.
Scott fought a valiant battle against cancer and was blessed with three more years after his diagnosis.

We are so very grateful for the amazing care Scott received from Dr. Ralph Wong and his great team at St. B CancerCare, and to Dr. J Silvaggio and his neurosurgery team at Health Sciences Centre.

Marilyn, Cam, Kaleigh, sorry to hear of Scott's passing. Scott was always so best friends over the years even though we saw each other a couple of times a year. I met Scott through Kenny and am glad I did. Scott was always so on the up side of things even when things were not going well at the end. I'll never forget the saying "Perhaps one" thanks to Scott. I will not be able to attend the Celebration of Life for Scott. I would like to pass on my condolences never the less. - Posted by: Al Peterson (Friend) on: Apr 09, 2025

Played Beer League hockey against Scotty and Kenny for many years. I ran into Scott at the golf course a few times in the last couple of years, and he appeared to have his illness in check. Will miss his friendly banter. Definitely one of the "Good-uns". Sincere condolences to his Family and Friends. It is a blessing to have family and friends around especially during Christmas. I ran into Scott a few times years ago while taking classes swimming. We always grabbed a few moments to chat and share a laugh. Once again so sorry for your loss, I know how it feels. John Arnold - Posted by: John Arnold (friend from teaching) on: Dec 22, 2024

My heartfelt condolences to family and friends. Great person on and off the ice. I played defense with Scotty on The North End Flyers, and I tell everyone he was the best skater I ever played with. His skating ability was off the charts. He definitely made me look way better than I was. You'll be missed Scotty - Posted by: Bob Brambilla (Friend) on: Dec 21, 2024

Scott (and Marilyn) were wonderful friends to my brother Ken. I always loved Scott’s gregarious personality, he was everybody’s best friend. When we saw him at my brothers COL I didn’t know he was battling cancer, so sad, another good one has passed on to heaven’s lounge in the sky. - Posted by: Derek Bramadat (Friend) on: Dec 21, 2024
