Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • My condolences on the passing of George. He was such a fun and friendly man. May he rest in peace. Cheryl - Posted by: Ms Cheryl Kreviazuk (Friend) on: Jan 09, 2025

  • George was a teammate and a good friend. We had many laughs with him on the baseball diamond when we played for Fawcett AutoBody Jets, I caught, George pitched, his fastball fooled many a hitter. Nicknamed "Crybaby", it showed his dedication to the sport and how he took a game loss to heart. We spent time around the bonfires at Nutimik Lake, where he showed us his special burning plastic bag trick and was always searching for the perfect "woods". "We need more woods Cliff, we need more woods." George was a special guy and I was grateful to have spoken with him only a month ago, where we reminisced about our teammates and families. Our hearts go out to George's children. Your dad was a great guy and we are saddened by his passing. - Posted by: Cliff & Ruth Armstrong (friends) on: Jan 06, 2025

  • Grew up and went to school and played sports in Churchill with George. Condolences to his family from the Langlois family. Margaret Langlois Ingebrigtson, George Langlois, Kathy Langlois Bouvier, Roland Langlois and Marion Langlois. He will be rembered fondly. - Posted by: George Langlois (Friend) on: Jan 05, 2025

  • We met George in 2022 when he and Katharine started dating. He was feisty with a dry sense of humour and made our friend Katharine very happy. That is all that mattered to us. - Posted by: Doreen and Kim (friends) on: Jan 04, 2025

  • I first met George, the summer of 1970 when I hired him to work on repairing the runway at the Churchill Airport, in advance of the Queen's visit. As we conversed during the project, he told me of his family: his dad was Chief Game Warden of the Territories, and his mother was a full-blooded Haida Indigenous women from BC. This led to an invitation to visit his home, to meet his mother, with the intent of buying a wolf pelt from her. I ended up buying a beautiful polar bear pelt from her. The next time we ran into each other, was at the Bel Acres GC in the late nineties. He saw my name on the tee-time list and made a point of seeking me out. We played a few rounds together until he left the club. The last time, I saw him was at Costco a few years back. He was always the same George; easy going, friendly, and a great all-round guy. My deepest sympathies to his family. He will be missed. Rest well, George Ed Klemm - Posted by: Ed Klemm (Friend) on: Jan 04, 2025

  • I was shocked and saddened to learn of George's passing. My condolences to his loved ones. - Posted by: Janice H (Friend) on: Jan 04, 2025

  • I knew George just before COVID pandemic. But regardless we stood by each other. Like so many people, George was stressed and I became a great pillar of comfort, compassion and support for him. Among all I learned from George is How much he loves his children and desires for each of them to succeed n life. And family dinners were a most to stay connected with all of them. George was a big man with a big, sensitive & generous heart , and not afraid of showing it. He would have give me the moon but all I needed was his cheerfulness, trust and love . It was always a delight to see how much George loved my traditional flavoured Asian cooking… he never had enough 😋 I could go on and on….. Sadly, in April 2021, for very personal family matters, I had to leave Winnipeg for Montreal, my hometown. But George and I always kept in touch. My prayers and thoughts are with you Brent ( Jane) , Derek, Erin and family in the Yukon during this difficult time . Know that from an earthly guardian, George is now your spiritual guardian for eternity. ❤️🙏 With profound sympathy, Gisèle - Posted by: Gisèle Perron (Past Love) on: Dec 29, 2024

  • Kathryn, I was shocked to hear of George's sudden passing. I was just getting to know him at the lake and I was enjoying a few talks we shared. And Molly, his beautiful, loveable dog that shows so much sparkle and life. I also really liked his dry wit. So often it seemed he would leave his back hatch open even in the rain before he remembered to close it. I could notice he and Daniel getting close. He told me how much he cared for you and your family which was so nice to see and hear. My heart goes out to you and your family. Take good care my friend, Don - Posted by: Don Bowles (friend) on: Dec 28, 2024
