It is with deep sadness that we announce that Paul Cyr passed away on December 25, 2024 in Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 79.
A devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Born on March 9, 1945, in St. Boniface, Manitoba, Paul was the second youngest of 14 children born to Ben and Juliette Cyr.
Family was the cornerstone of Paul’s life. Together with his wife Dawn, who predeceased him in 2014, Paul built a loving family that was his greatest source of pride. He leaves behind his children, Jason Cyr (Kandice Keith), Ryan Cyr (Jessica Romanoff), and Charlene Mitchell (Greg Mitchell). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Alexandra, Maggie, and Daniel (children of Jason); Jessy, Tommy, and Cassie (children of Ryan); and Ewan and Hudson (children of Charlene).
Paul served his community with unwavering dedication for over 40 years as a firefighter in Winnipeg, culminating his distinguished career as a District Chief. Known for his steady leadership and commitment to helping others, Paul exemplified courage and service throughout his life.
He will be remembered for his selflessness, his sharp wit, and his unwavering devotion to his children and grandchildren. Paul’s legacy is one of love, resilience, and an unshakeable commitment to the people who mattered most to him.
A service to celebrate Paul’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on February 6, 2025 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitoba Firefighters’ Burn Fund in his memory.
As a special note we would like to thank the staff of Seven Oaks Hospital - Third floor, unit one - for their compassion and care.
Paul’s love and the memories he created will remain in our hearts forever.
