Bob passed away quietly at home with his family by his side.
He is deeply missed by his wife of 69 years Elaine (nee Sneddon) and daughters, Elizabeth McKay (Tim), Leslie Guyader (late Paul), Roberta Ferguson (Martin Reid) and Sharon Ferguson (Justin Heyworth). Bob is equally missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Lindsay McKay (Micah, Storm and August), Garrett McKay (Jess Hanna, River, Sawyer and Violet), Christine Guyader (Chris Robinson, Ryder and Danika) and Jane Guyader (Yvan Letourneau, Olivier). Bob was predeceased by his eleven siblings, much-loved and missed grandson Dana McKay and son-in-law Paul Guyader. Bob is survived by his sister-in-law Ann Ferguson (nee Smith) (late Roy) and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was born and raised on Ferry Road. He attended Linwood School and after finishing he and his younger brother, Roy, went into the plumbing trade. Bob was introduced to his future wife by his younger sister who worked at "the Phones" with Elaine. Bob and Elaine married on October15,1955.
Bob’s interests were many; he was a natural athlete enjoying a good workout, skiing and curling. He could out-run just about anyone. Bob enjoyed gardening, family camping adventures and summers spent at the family cottage at Grand Beach.
Most people who knew Bob heard his big, warm laugh before they spotted him in a room. Bob had a keen wit and was never at a loss for a good-natured wise-crack or well-timed comeback. His wife Elaine and family are grateful for his long, happy life and will dearly miss his steady, humour-filled and comforting presence in their lives.
Bob’s family extends heartfelt gratitude and deep thanks to home care colleagues from The Key for their kind and compassionate care.
