Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVELYN GAIL PAUL
It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of Evelyn “Gail” Paul (née Smith) age 81, on January 18, 2025, at home, with her loving husband by her side.
Gail will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 50 years, Jim; her children, Charmaine and Jim Jr. (Julia); and her beloved grandsons, Ethan, Benjamin, and Dominic.
Gail was born on December 26, 1943, in Russell, MB. Growing up, her family resided in several small towns throughout Manitoba and Saskatchewan. After high school, she moved to Winnipeg where she dedicated many years working at Monarch/North American Life.
She married her husband Jim in 1974 and together they settled in St. Vital where they raised their family. She was a devoted wife and mom and a proud Grandma, cherishing gatherings with family, friends, and neighbours. She was a constant presence at her children’s activities and later cheered on her grandsons at their sporting events too.
In her earlier years, Gail enjoyed a wide range of activities such as softball, curling and bowling. She was a member of the St. Vital Comettes Softball Team, who were Senior B Champs in 1968. Gail had a passion for reading and knitting, hobbies she continued to enjoy until her health began to decline. Prior to the decline in her health, Gail and Jim enjoyed winters in Mexico, where they met many lifelong friends.
Gail took great pleasure in tending to her flower beds, especially her hydrangeas, and every spring she looked forward to planting flowers that would attract hummingbirds to her yard. She was an avid supporter of the Winnipeg Jets and the Toronto Blue Jays and loved cheering them on.
Although our hearts are broken, we are comforted knowing that after all she went through, she can rest now. She will be remembered for her warm, loving and caring nature.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Misericordia Respite and PRIME for their constant care, kindness and support.
A private celebration of Gail's life will be held at a later date.

Condolences to Gail's family. I had the pleasure of playing softball with Gail and team Mixed Nuts (1990-1993) in the South End Mixed Softball League. I recall she was one of our pitchers, and I definitely remember Gail was a very nice lady. May she rest in peace. - Posted by: Bradley Pisiak (former teammate in mixed softball) on: Jan 25, 2025
