William James Terrance Smith, lovingly known as Terry, went to be with Jesus on December 8, 2024, at the age of 78, with his wife Linda by his side.
Predeceased by his father William Smith and his mother Millicent Lyda May Smith (Poidevin).
Born on September 13, 1946, Terry lived a life marked by faith, love, and joy, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Terry was the devoted husband of Linda Smith, his beloved wife of 49 years. Together, they had five daughters and many grandchildren: Charity (Kelly) along with their children, Owen, Micah and Caedan; Nadine (Nathan) along with their children, Hailey and Caleb; Vera (James) along with their children, Juliet, Lily, and Liam; Chantalle (Edgar) along with their children, Mateo and Andrés, and Tegan along with her children, Dalton, Davante, and Drayton.
Terry’s love for Jesus was the foundation of his life. He had a heart for worship, a gift for storytelling, and a huge smile that would brighten anyone's day. Whether singing hymns, telling a story, or praying for you - he was always such an encouragement to those around him, always highlighting the good in everyone.
His life reflected Luke 1:46: “My soul magnifies the Lord.” Terry magnified the Lord in his words, his actions, and his steadfast devotion to his Saviour. His greatest joy was knowing and sharing the love of Christ, and his family takes comfort in the assurance that he is now worshipping in the presence of his King.
Terry’s legacy is carried on by his wife, his daughters and their families, and all those who were blessed to know him. His voice, his smile, and his stories will be deeply missed but will live on in the hearts of those he loved.
A celebration of Terry’s life will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave Street, Winnipeg, MB. The service will be held in the main sanctuary at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing half an hour before the service begins at 10:30 a.m. There will be light refreshments to follow the service in the lower banquet hall.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)
Terry’s life was a testament to God’s grace and love, and his memory will forever inspire those he leaves behind.
