DOROTHY ANNA PATCHING
Dorothy Patching of Winnipeg passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Roy and his daughter, Linda. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Calvin (Debbie), Dean (Karen), daughter Joanne (Kim), stepson-in-law James, grandchildren, Nicole (Zach), Nastassia (Scott), Sascha (Dwayne), Darren, Deanna (Brett), Britney, Sidonie (Tyler), Lisa (Gord), great-grandchildren, Rylan, Dwanasha, Harrison, Hunter, Parker, Theo, Rory, Jake, as well as brother Trevor (Uncle Joe) and many nieces, nephews and their children in England and the USA.
Born in Pocklington, Yorkshire, England in 1932, Dorothy lived in Pocklington until she met the love of her life, Roy, who she married in 1953. The family moved extensively: Gimli, Canada 1957; Baden-Baden, Germany 1961; Metz, France 1963; Winnipeg, Canada 1966, Bournemouth, England 1970; finally returning to Winnipeg in 1982.
Dorothy was a loving and caring wife and mother. She was always there for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As the matriarch of the family, she loved to host and attend family gatherings and celebrations, where she would share her life experiences, along with showing her strong Yorkshire character and sense of humour and offering the most honest and sound advice. Dorothy’s passion besides travel was gardening, creating and nurturing the most wonderful "English garden", where much time was spent relaxing with family, friends and a martini or two!
Mum, through her compassion, was a supporter of numerous charities and organizations. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
Many thanks to the staff at Brightwater Senior Living for the care and compassion they showed Dorothy and her family at her time of need.
In accordance with Mum’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.

Dorothy peacefully passed away on January 26, 2025, at her residence in Brightwater, at the age of 93.
