SANDRA CARDWELL-KMET

The family is so very saddened to announce the passing of Sandra Cardwell-Kmet on January 26, 2025.

Left to mourn her passing are her husband of 28 years, Ron Kmet, her sisters, Gail (Len) Charney, Bonnie (Albert) Penner, Terry (Bill) Pritchett, Cheryl (Lloyd) Born, sister-in-law Anne (Glenn) Rusnak, and many nieces and nephews. Sandra was predeceased by her parents and her sister Ruth (and Charles) Keep.

Sandra’s career was with the Justice Department as a Probation Officer for 27 years. Her specialty was domestic violence and prostitution. Although not an easy career, she truly took pride in it.

After retirement, she continued a lifelong friendship and coffee meetings with several coworkers, especially her very close friend Sandy Lafontaine.

Not having children of their own, both Sandra and Ron enjoyed a close loving relationship with their nieces and nephews. She always looked forward to family get-togethers and was stylishly dressed for any and all occasions.

Once she and Ron retired, they very much enjoyed travelling, especially cruises. Her favourite cities were in Italy: Florence, Rome, and Pompei.

Sandra's life was well-lived. She often said she was grateful to have made it this far. She had a positive attitude dealing with health challenges and tried to enjoy each day to the fullest.

If friends so desire, donations in her memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of one's choice.

Cremation has taken place.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., West St. Paul, MB.
