Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONNA LYNNE MCLEOD
It is with a great deal of sadness and shock that the family announces the passing of Donna on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at home in Winnipeg.
Left to cherish her memory are Dennis, her loving husband of 58 years; daughters, Jody McLeod and Shelby McLeod (Bruce); grandchildren, Ember McLeod-Kim and Ryann Kent; sisters, Patricia Sherk (Don), Darlene Storer (Dennis), and Susan Lisik (Lorne); sister-in-law Donna Chapko (Clarence); nieces and nephews, Tannis Sweeney (Jason, Camryn, Brooke), Carey Chapko (Erin, Crew, Sawyer); Kristen Chapko (Randy, Carson, Bennett); Paul Zaharchuk; Cathy Ozog (Ed); David Lisik (Joanne); and Kara Lisik (Sean). She will also be fondly remembered by many extended family members and also many wonderful friends.
Donna was predeceased by her parents, Al and Gladys Breland, parents-in-law, Wally and Elsie McLeod, sister Brenda Zaharchuk, and niece Michelle Zaharchuk.
Donna was born and raised in Flin Flon, Manitoba. During her school years she played violin in the school orchestra, was an accomplished piano player and in later years played the organ. She left Flin Flon after high school to attend Manitoba Teacher’s College where she met the love of her life Dennis who she later married on July 29, 1967. She ended up teaching in both Oakbank and Transcona and also went back to Flin Flon to teach for one year.
Donna was very creative and talented, taking up ceramics, scrap booking and most recently card making. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to both of her daughters and any friend who was in need. She enjoyed painting, home repair, decorating and gardening. She was a vibrant, fun-loving person who loved to gather with family and friends to play cards and games, chat and have a good time. Nothing brought Donna greater pride and joy in life, though, than spending time with her grandchildren.
Along with her husband, Donna enjoyed travelling to most of the US States, Mexico and Korea. She also enjoyed taking a river cruise through Europe and most recently an Alaskan cruise.
Donna will be laid to rest at Green Acres Cemetery. A private graveside service with family members will be held on February 21, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Donna’s name may be made to the Oakbank United Church or Siloam Mission.

My deepest sympathies go out to Dennis, Shelby, Ryann and Bruce. I had the pleasure of getting to know Donna when she and Dennis would drop by the childcare centre to pick up Ryann. We would chat for a few minutes and exchange “Ryann” stories. Donna was always kind and sweet and her love for her granddaughter shone through. Forever grateful that I got to know her. May God grant you all peace and may you find comfort in the memories you share. Sending hugs, Pina. - Posted by: Pina Zammito (Acquaintance) on: Feb 21, 2025

Dennis, we are sending our condolences to you and your family. We were surprised and saddened to learn of Donna's sudden passing. You and Donna were excellent neighbors. The two of you were a great help as we got orientated to Aspen Villas. Donna's willingness to open her home for the Christmas gatherings allowed all of us on the street to draw closer together. Volunteering to collect for the Christmas gifting was a task done that we all appreciated. We sympathize for the the deep pain and loss you and your family are bearing. - Posted by: Josip & Lynn Lecnik (neighbor) on: Feb 04, 2025

Deepest condolences to Dennis and family. I met Dennis & Donna through my in-laws in Oakbank. Donna was a bright shining person and I loved talking with her. We always chatted about Flin Flon and it was a pleasure to visit. I was fortunate to receive one of her crafted cards last year. I hope she has a heavenly coffee break with Jake, Dave & my hubby Greg. - Posted by: Caroline Buhler (friend) on: Feb 03, 2025

We met Donna & Dennis through my parents. Donna was a very wonderful and loyal friend to my Mom. I got to grow up during their friendship, from my teens to our wedding to the birth of our own children. From family gatherings and trips to the cottage there was always a lot of great food and laughter. She made some of the best perogies I've ever tasted. Donna touched a lot of lives, she will be missed by everyone. We'll keep you all in our prayers.🙏 - Posted by: Lori & Jim Shaw (Friends) on: Feb 01, 2025

To Dennis and family my deepest sympathy. Donna was such a beautiful person with a heart of gold. I was so honored to have worked with such a talented and skilled educator. Her quiet demeanor and soft spoken manner brought out the best in all. Her love for her family was so evident when you mentioned them. Her eyes would light up and the biggest smile would be in her face. Both her and Dennis were always together and willing to give a helping hand. Her devotion to both faith and community was undeniable. May her beautiful memories live on in the hearts of loved ones and friends. - Posted by: Patrick Bend (Colleague & Friend) on: Feb 01, 2025
