BOB SOCHASKY

BOB SOCHASKY passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the age of 74 years old.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Cathy; his children, Samantha (Shaun) and Eric (Erin); his grandchildren, Noah, Everett and Dawson; his sister, Irene (Leonard); his nephew, Grant (Adrienne) and his niece Jennifer.

Bob was born in Winnipeg and grew up in East Kildonan and the North end neighbourhoods. He graduated from St John’s High School and held several junior accounting positions in Winnipeg while attending night school to get his Certified Management Accountant degree. He then went on to have a distinguished accounting career with his longest tenures being the Director of Finance (later the acting Executive Director) at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and the Chief Executive Officer of the Manitoba Centennial Centre Corporation before he retired in 2012.

He loved sports and was an avid New England Patriots, Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Winnipeg Jets fan, with season tickets for many years to both the Bombers and Jets. In his playing days, he loved to golf and curl at Rossmere. He also enjoyed classic cars, some of which he had the pleasure of owning throughout his lifetime including a Corvette, Camaro and Mustang.

Bob will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather who was happiest when spending time with his family and friends. He had the most generous spirit and worked hard to support his family in any way he could.

A private celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date.

We love you, dad. Rest in Peace.
