We sadly announce the passing of Susan Braun at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home on January 26, 2025 at the age of 94.
Susan was born in Plum Coulee, Manitoba and grew up with nine siblings, six brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her younger sister, Helen Giesbrecht. Sue is predeceased by her parents, Maria and Cornelius Doell, first husband Thomas in 1995, her second husband John in 2014, six brothers, two sisters and sons-in-law Don Carrette and Jim Grant.
She will be deeply missed by her five daughters; Sharon (Ron Brown) Carrette, Sandra (Terry) Shortts, Bonnie Braun, Kathie Grant, Joyce (Al) Quinn, as well as her eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Susan was very devoted to her family. She loved teaching Pioneer Girls and Sunday School. She had a great sense of humour, was very devoted to her Christian beliefs, loved to challenge herself with craft projects, sewing, quilting, flower arrangements, gardening and babysitting her grandchildren. Can’t forget her delicious bread, buns and cinnamon buns. A truly loving and giving person.
We would like to express heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care by staff at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home since June 2022.
Memorial services will be held on March 1, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 1:55 p.m. Light refreshments will be served after.
