It is with profound sadness that we announce Anna Elizabeth Sienko, aged 71, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Calgary, Alberta on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Anna was born on May 23, 1953, in Kowary, Poland. Anna dedicated her life to advancing medical research. Her work in pathology earned her numerous awards and widespread recognition in her field. She was deeply passionate about teaching and making a difference, and her contributions have left a lasting impact on the medical community.
Anna will be remembered by her family as a true force, witty and loving. Her generosity touched many people. She loved helping anyone in need, family, friends, or colleagues. She was known to help people pay for tuition, books, rent, bills, diapers, food, whatever was needed. It gave her joy to help others in achieving their dreams and goals within the medical community and beyond.
Anna is survived by her sister Mira Haderer, as well as her beloved nephews, Roman Haderer, Richard Haderer, and Robert (Sherry) Haderer and families. She was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Rosalia Sienko, as well as her brother Ted Sienko.
Her laughter and spirit will be dearly missed.
Funeral Mass will be held for Anna at 10:00 a.m., March 1, 2025, at Holy Ghost Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, with a celebration of her life to follow at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Anna’s memory to your local Children’s Hospital. Thank you.
