SHARON HOWARD

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sharon Kay (Decker) Howard on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the Souris hospital. Sharon fought her battle with cancer for many years and always faced it with grace, courage, strength and dignity.

Sharon is survived by the love of her life of almost 45 years, Ken; her son Shane (Jackie), her daughter Angela Robbins (Murray) and her daughter Katherine Bishop (Jim). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Faith, William and Sophia Howard; Sierra Gray; Zach and Tyler Robbins; Meygan and James Bishop. Also surviving are her father Tony Decker, her brothers Curt, Steve, Cary (Sharon), Glen and her sisters Linda Baugh (Tom) and Nancy Kostelecky (Jon). She was predeceased by her mother Irene (Dukart) Decker; her sisters- in-law, Ruth (Glen Decker) Pat (Curt Decker); and her in-laws Jean and Walter Howard.

Sharon was born December 26, 1958, in Dickinson North Dakota to Anton (Tony) R. Decker and Irene (Dukart) Decker. After finishing school, Sharon moved to Bottineau ND to take Flower Shop and Greenhouse Management, where she met Ken. They were married in Minnedosa, MB in 1980 and lived in Brandon, MB before making Alexander, MB their forever home. Sharon loved her yard, maintaining beautiful flower beds, tending a large vegetable garden, and watching birds.

She was a wonderful seamstress who loved sewing dresses for the girls, matching pajama pants for Christmas, and other assorted items her children and grandchildren adored. She also enjoyed doing needlework and crafting of all sorts to pass the time. Spending time with family beside a bonfire or cooking a big family dinner brought her great joy. She had a deep love for animals and always made sure all the family pets felt it through gentle pats and treats. Sharon was passionate helping her community, serving on various boards and volunteering throughout the years. She also loved helping people and was fondly thought of as ‘everyone’s mom’ at her workplaces.

A graveside service and luncheon will be held at a later date.

Donations in memory of Sharon may be made to the Brandon Humane Society – 2200 – 17th Street East, Brandon, MB R7A 7M6.
