ARTHUR JEAN EUGENE PYNOO

December 4, 1931 - February 25, 2025

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of a very special man, Arthur “Art” Pynoo (age 93) devoted husband to the late Merle Pynoo.

He will be deeply missed by his four loving children and their families, Carol (Barry), Dawn (Brian), Arthur Jr. (Jennifer), and Michael (Nola). Also grieving his loss are his step-children, Shannon (Bill), Holly (Bud), Stuart (Liz) and Mitchell (predeceased), and special nephew Keith Pynoo and his family. He also leaves behind several cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, marking five generations for the Pynoo family.

Art loved to reminisce about his many adventures and his storytelling would captivate an audience. Those stories will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

The family deeply thanks the amazing staff at River Ridge 1, especially Darlyn and Jasmeen for their compassionate care during Dad's final moments.

Cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. A small family Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • My Condolences to the Pynoo Family. I remember some of my first fishing trips with Mike and Mr. P He was a good man with a kind heart. - Posted by: Tick Rowson (Friend) on: May 15, 2025

  • Some of my best memories from childhood are the annual Thanksgiving weekend hunting trips. The core of the group that was there every year, was my Dad, his brother Joe, and Art (whom I always called Mr. Pynoo) along with my cousin Reyner and Art's sons Arthur and Mike. I remember Mr. Pynoo as always being in a jovial mood and always being willing to take us kids under his wing and teach us a thing or two. I'll always remember his story telling and how kind he always was. It's hard to believe all the Dads in that group are now gone. To Art Jr, Mike and family; So sorry for your loss, but know that your Dad left a lot of good memories in his wake. - Posted by: Jim Smith (Friend) on: Mar 26, 2025

  • I would just like to add to my wife's tributes to Art that my fondest memories of Art were when he and I worked as the Greens committee at the golf course in Pinawa - he was an excellent craftsman and there was never a job he didn't tackle with expertise and enthusiasm - a great volunteer and a great guy - he will be missed. - Posted by: Dennis Smith (friend) on: Mar 16, 2025

  • Our deepest sympathies to all Art's family and friends - he will certainly be missed by all who knew him. He and Merle were one of our "besties" when they lived in Pinawa - we had so much fun with both of them! We spent time with them curling, playing golf, drinking wine and story telling (which Art was great at!!). You will be missed, Art! - Posted by: Dennis and Anne Smith (friends) on: Mar 16, 2025

  • When I think about my fondest memories, Art is there along with my Uncle Jim and my dad Joe. Of course Arther Jr., Michael and my cousin Jim Jr. Our hunting trips to Broad Valley and later to Hnasa were some of the best of times. My condolences to all of you guys. - Posted by: Reyner Smith (Friend) on: Mar 08, 2025
