HAROLD (WHITEY) HORSFALL

January 24, 1934 - February 24, 2025

With his loving family at his side, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Harold Horsfall "Whitey." Whitey is survived by his dedicated, loving wife, June; sister, Jessie Godin; children, Debbie (Kevin), Kelly, Nancy (Brad), and Jeff (Therese); grandchildren, Derrick (Joanna), Daniel (Chelsea), Kyle (Lisa), Kayla (Bryce), Blake, Tyler, Emma, Joshua, and Grace; and great-granddaughter, Rooney. He was predeceased by his father, James (Grace); mother, Edna; and sister, Eleanor.

Whitey began his lifelong career as a plumber apprentice with Easton Plumbing & Heating on March 22, 1961, and retired in 1992 from Master Plumbing. He worked at the Whiteshell Nuclear Research Establishment, making Pinawa home until 1969 when he returned to Winnipeg and joined Local Union 254 on October 9, 1969. Whitey proudly received his 50-year Union membership award in 2019. After retiring, Whitey and June enjoyed traveling south in the winters.

Whitey grew up in the Weston area of Winnipeg, making lifelong friends with whom he enjoyed golfing, hockey, curling, and Friday nights at the Downs. He also enjoyed weekly breakfasts with the guys. Whitey loved watching sports and on weekends, he’d have multiple televisions and the radio going to catch all the games. His favourite hockey was watching #4 when Jeff played and later watching his grandsons' games.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road (Unitarian Church).

Charitable donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Cancer Care Manitoba, or a charity of your choice in his memory.

A Photo Biography video honouring Whitey’s life will be accessible through the 'tributes' link below at a later date.

  • To all of Harold's (Whitey) family, I want to express my deepest condolences on his passing, I know he will be missed by all of you. I met him around 1970 and worked on several jobs with him and became his Union Representative in 1974. Whitey was one of the best plumbers you would ever want to work with and a lot of fun to be with. He was also liked very much by his co worker and well respected in his the trade.
