Shaun Robert Labossiere passed away on January 8, 2025, in Calgary, Alberta at age 43.
Shaun will be missed by his brothers, Barrett (Janice) and Derek (Alyssa) of Winnipeg and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Bob and Debbie.
Shaun was born on June 8, 1981, in Thompson, Manitoba. The family moved to Arborg in 1988 where Shaun grew to be an excellent student, active in hockey, baseball and golf. He also learned a lot about farm machinery while working at Shachtay Sales.
Shaun would want to be remembered as the funniest, smartest, and most handsome Labossiere brother - he inherited his competitive spirit from both the Mitchell and Labossiere families.
Shaun graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Environmental Design and moved west in 2004 to complete his Masters in Architecture at the University of Calgary. He spent semesters in Barcelona and Mexico, sparking a love for travel. During his career as an architect, Shaun was proud to create spaces to bring people together, such as community centres and arenas. He will be missed by colleagues across the country who appreciated his honesty and professionalism.
Shaun’s attention to detail, a skill that made him successful in his career, also made him an excellent cook. He loved sports, especially the Bombers (and anything Team Canada) and his dog Ned.
Shaun's humour and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He was grateful for many mentors and friends who helped him forge his path. Shaun was generous with his time, happy to help however he could, no matter how busy he was. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Faculty of Architecture Endowed Bursary at the University of Manitoba at https://give.umanitoba.ca/ to help students experiencing financial hardship.
A celebration of Shaun’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Elkhorn Royal Canadian Legion Hall, 4 Richhill Ave. E. in Elkhorn, Manitoba.
