Peacefully at Lion’s Manor, Doreen passed away.
She is survived by her son Mike (Pam), daughter Jane and daughter-in-law Lesley as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doreen was predeceased by her husband Sidney and son David.
Doreen was born and raised in Battersea, London, England. Her childhood was greatly influenced by the Second World War including her evacuation to Wales for about a year, sleeping with her family in bomb shelters, listening to the bombs and missiles explode and rationing, which lasted until the 1950s. Later after marrying and having three children, the family emigrated to Canada. Doreen’s focus was family and the home. She enjoyed reading, knitting, shopping, family outings to the beach and, of course, tea. In her later years as her eyesight was failing, she enjoyed audio books, gratefully supplied by both CNIB and the public library outreach.
Sincere thanks to Lion’s Manor staff for their care.
Cremation has taken place and no service is planned. If wishing to donate, please consider CNIB, 1080 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3G 3M3.
