Jean Couling passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Valleyview Care Centre.
Jean was born April 22, 1942, in Clanwilliam, MB. She grew up and attended school in Flin Flon, MB. Jean came to Brandon in 1960 and attended BMHC School of Nursing. Jean met Larry while attending school at BMHC and married in 1963.
Jean was an active member of Brownies and Girl Guides. She was always involved in her children's lives, whether volunteering at school events or serving as a scorekeeper at their sporting events - when she wasn’t cheering from the stands. She was a true Blue Jays fan, loved traveling, especially cruises, and found joy in the camping adventures she shared with family and friends. Jean was a good homemaker, and loved reading, she would often have five books on the go at one time.
For over 20 years, Jean dedicated her time as a hospital volunteer, always offering a helping hand. She also provided foot care and assisted with events through Seniors for Seniors, ensuring that others received the care and companionship they needed. Family was at the center of her world, and her grandchildren - Lenny, Danielle, and Ruby- were the light of her life.
After 50 years in the same home, Jean embraced a new chapter at Rotary Villas, where she continued to build friendships and create lasting memories.
Jean was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Ellen Beilby; son Gary; siblings, Gary and Gerry.
Jean will be lovingly remembered by her husband of almost 63 years, Larry; children Stacy, Kelli (Korry) Rothwell; and grandkids, Kara, Lenny, Danielle, and Ruby; sister Agnes; brothers, Jim (Janice) and Howard.
The family would like to thank the Valleyview Care Centre staff for the incredible care they provided Jean over the past five years.
Donations in memory of Jean may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3 or the Alzheimer’s Society of Western Manitoba – Westman Region, Unit 4B-457 9th Street, Brandon MB R7A 1K2.
Jean’s family will cherish her memory privately.
