It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gilbert Van Humbeck on March 8, 2025, at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.
Born August 26, 1933, to Fred and Elise Van Humbeck on a farm in Laurier, MB. Gil was one of 10 children. He was a kind soul who loved people and nature. He had a proud career in education as a teacher, principal and superintendent. Gil also had a competitive side and enjoyed watching sports, curling, and playing golf and cards.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 26 years, Anne Van Humbeck, his beloved daughters, April Kite (David) and Nicole Van Humbeck, stepdaughter Brigitte Emes (Bob), stepsons, Ray Ullenboom (Nancy), Mike Ullenboom (Marianne), Frank Ullenboom (Louise), and well as many additional family and friends.
A mass will take place in Gilbert’s honour at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Parish in Winnipeg.

A great person. He was very intelligent. As I recall, he had quit Laurier High School. Then he returned as an adult and completed his grade 12 in half a term. I last saw him when he was still principal at St. Norbert high school. Friendly and courteous. Sincere condolences to all his family.
