GARY WILLIAM JEFFERYS

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gary Jefferys on March 14, 2025, at the age of 82.

Gary is survived by his wife of 54 years, June; son Kris (Joanne), Brandon, Blair and Jake; son Brennan (Shannon); brother-in-law Ron; sister-in-law Bev (Al); nieces, Chelsea (Patrick) and Lindsay (Martin). Gary was predeceased by his parents, Iola and William and mother and father-in-law, Peggy and Frank.

Gary grew up in the Weston area of Winnipeg. He attended Cecil Rhodes and Tec Voc schools. As a young boy he participated in various sporting activities and young peoples’ groups at Sparling United Church. After graduation Gary apprenticed as a Machinist at Canadian National Railway where he was employed for 36 years, retiring in 1995.

Through the years, Gary and June enjoyed trips to various locations within Canada and the U.S. The family seasonally camped at Nutimik Lake for many years. Gary enjoyed working in his yard and got enjoyment from feeding and watching the birds. One of his passions was listening to and collecting music. He enjoyed watching the Jets, Blue Jays and Formula One racing, but his greatest joy was spending time with family and attending his grandsons’ hockey and soccer games.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.

  • Sincere Condolences to June and Family. My mother Evelyn was one of many of Gary’s Bucknell cousins. Though the interaction in adult life was through weddings and funerals …Gary and June were always present (the last he attended was for Shirley.) May your wonderful memories be your strength at this time. - Posted by: Sheila Wheeler (Cousin) on: Mar 22, 2025
