It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Karen Wilton (nee Rasmussen) at her home in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on March 16, 2025, at the age of 72. Linda was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her father, Almar Rasmussen, her mother, Astrid Torgerson and her brother, Leif Rasmussen.
Linda is survived by her devoted husband, Bruce Wilton, with whom she shared 35 wonderful years of marriage. She was a cherished mother to her children: Kim (Rob), Stephen (Jan), Carolyn (Drew), and Richard (Stephanie). She is also lovingly remembered by her sister Janet (Ron), and her sisters-in-law, Joan, Barbara (Ken), Beth and brother-in-law Fred (Pat).
Linda's early life was spent in St. Vital, where she attended Windsor School and Glenlawn Collegiate, culminating in her graduation from St. Boniface School of Nursing in 1973. Her career began in the Emergency Department at St. Boniface hospital before moving on to teach nursing in Prince George, BC and Red Deer, Alberta. Upon returning to Winnipeg, she lent her talents to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, CancerCare and retired from Access River East. In a testament to her unwavering dedication, Linda came out of retirement in 2020 to assist with COVID-19 vaccinations, showcasing her lifelong commitment to community health.
Linda took immense pride in her role as a mother and was an adoring grandmother to her ten grandchildren: Caleb, Freya, Oliver, Molly, Sam, Tess, Ben, Jackson, Zoe, and Ellenora. Although distance separated her from some of her grandchildren, each visit was filled with joy, laughter, and cherished memories. Her love for her family, especially her grandchildren, and her loyal golden retriever, Elsa, were the joys of her life.
Linda's legacy of love and service will be honoured at her funeral on March 29, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 1311 Dakota Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church Hamper Fund, an initiative that was close to her heart.

My name is Grace Lawrence and Linda and I were classmates attending SBGH School of Nursing and graduating in 1973. Our paths crossed a number of times since that time. We worked together for a while in the Emergency department. Linda could put the youngest or the most senior patient at ease when being admitted to our unit. She also juggled work with being a single parent. I recall meeting her at a community garden where she and Kim were tending a garden they had planted. She continued her education and one day I received a call from Prince George, BC. requesting a reference for her! What could I say except that she was a capable nurse, excellent with her patients, and a wonderful mother. She was conscientious about her education and managed all of this with the most upbeat outlook on life. She got the position! This was again repeated when she moved to Red Deer, AB, She got that position as well! Time passed and one day I met her in the hospital corridor! What a surprise! She was orienting to be able to work in the neonatal nursery. I believe is was around that time she took on a position in the Muscular Dystrophy organization. Unfortunately we did not see each other very often after that. I did get to speak to her briefly when we were in the planning stages of our 50 year reunion. She was not well at that time and was unable to attend. I will always remember her for her positive outlook on life and how she took charge of her future. She is in a place now where someone is looking after her! - Posted by: Grace Lawrence (Friend and coworker) on: Mar 29, 2025

My wife and I had the great privilege of working with Linda for a number of years in the Emergency department of St Boniface General Hospital ( as it was then called) . Over the years , from time to time, we did have a couple of Emergency Department staff reunions… it was always great to just catch up…will definitely miss Linda’s smile, laugh and sense of humour. Our sincere condolences to the Wilton and Rasmussen families. George and Karen Coupland - Posted by: George Coupland (Co-worker) on: Mar 25, 2025
