MANUEL (MANNY) BOTELHO RAPOSO

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Manny, who left us on March 3, 2025, at the age of 64.

Manny will be dearly missed by his beloved daughters, Morgan and Taylor. He is survived by his father Augusto, and his siblings, Bev (Cris), Elley (Jim), Joe (Frances), Tony (Lisa), and Margaret (Derek), as well as his many nieces, nephews, great friends and especially his good friend and right hand man Pat. Manny is reunited with his mother, Maria, in Heaven.

Born on July 4, 1960, in Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal, Manny immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of four, and lived in Winnipeg for most of his life.

For 29 years, Manny proudly owned and operated Benders Brake & Muffler Ltd. where his tenacity built a reputation for integrity, dedication, and commitment.

Manny lived life on his own terms: Never slowing down, never losing his humour, and always making an unforgettable impact on those around him. His unwavering devotion for his family and friends was evident in every aspect of his life. Whether it was a large holiday get together or regular weekly dinners with his father, we could always count on his joy and laughs.

A celebration of his life will be held on March 27, 2025, at St. Charles Catholic Parish, 320 St. Charles Street, Winnipeg at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon gathering to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Diabetes Canada or an organization of choice in memory of Manny.

  • Wow. If you can believe it Manny and I worked together on the Papp Tobacco Farm in the 70's outside of Brantford. I think we were both in our late teens then. Hard Work, lots of fun though. Cheers Manuel. RIP - Posted by: Graham (Friend) on: Jun 06, 2025

  • My sincere condolences to everyone. I have happy memories of Manny, including way back when… playing 6 and 4 mixed baseball, with the Speedy Muffler crew and friends. :-) May your happy memories help you through this time. Huge hugs. Blessings, Pamela. - Posted by: Pamela Thrift (Friend) on: Mar 29, 2025

  • My condolences to all families of Manny. My late husband John and our family were neighbours at Fallbrook Bay many years past. We had a lot of fun with his family. Manny was a great person full of fun. After many years gone by I met up with him at Princess Auto, and was so nice to reunite. To my shock saw in obits he had passed. Rest in Peace Manny. Linda McMillan and Family. - Posted by: Linda McMillan (Neighbor on Fallbrook Bay) on: Mar 23, 2025

  • Condolences to the family. My late husband Geoff and Manny became friends many years ago over their shared love of custom exhausts. Over the years Manny & the guys at Benders installed a few of them for us. Geoff would even take our kids sometimes to visit, so it was pretty neat for our son to go see Manny a year or so ago about his own exhaust for his first car. As always, Manny was so good to my kiddo, remembering his Dad as they talked about the old & the new. I was really saddened to see his face in the Obit section today. I hope Manny & Geoff get to meet up & share some wobbly pops & tall tales about the good old days. Again, condolences to the family. - Posted by: Tara (Friend) on: Mar 22, 2025
