Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOAN BENTA REMPEL
Peacefully surrounded by the Love of her family, we announce the passing of the BEST Mom, Nanny, Auntie and friend on March 25, 2025.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Shelly (Dale), Robyn (Paul), Chadd (Laura); grandchildren, Krista, Sonja, Eric and Elena; nieces, Sheila, Lisa and nephew Michael; her beloved extended family at home and abroad; and her treasured community of friends. She was preceded by Marvin, her loving husband of 35 years.
Joan was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on January 13, 1937, to immigrant Danish parents. It was in Ste. Anne, while running Bob’s Café, that she met the love of her life, Marvin, and married him on April 23, 1960.
Joan’s greatest love was her family, beginning with her mother. She was immensely proud of her three children, and her four grandchildren, and was actively present in their lives. Joan was a loving wife, exceptional homemaker, sports fan and dedicated supporter for the community in Niverville, NUC, and the Scandinavian Centre. She never met an acquaintance; she always made a friend.
The family would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to all who have supported us during this difficult time. We were privileged to see Mom through her final days and honour her wish to pass peacefully at home.
Mom, Nanny, you will live in our
hearts forever. We love you.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that Joan’s friends and family consider a charitable donation to the Niverville United Church, SCE Lifeworks or charity of your choice.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue, Winnipeg.

Joan was a stalwart member of the church, a woman of boundless energy and full of warmth. Her kindness and compassion transformed the lives of the people she encountered. My prayers are with Shelley, Robyn and Chadd. You have known the blessing of your Mom's life better than anyone. So sad to hear this! Joan was an angel. My mom provided homecare services for Joan’s mom. It was not a job; it was an honour. Through my mom’s relationship with the Rempel family, I grew to love Joan immediately. She loved my young son who often went with my mom to see her. He was a brat and Joan took it all in stride! (My mom was Agnes Reinke-Toews). Love to all the family! - Posted by: Janice Kostash (Friend and much more) on: Mar 28, 2025

What a wonderful lady! She did so much for so many and always took the time to say hello and offer a smile. You will be missed by all. - Posted by: Terri (Church friend) on: Mar 28, 2025

Met Joan in St. Anne restaurant (name ??) where we were served by Joan. Marvin, myself and numerous other construction workers were served by this graceful Joan. The shortest way to a Man's Heart is thru good food! Joan proved that correct as she and Marvin became lifelong partners. Sadly Marvin left us early, (1995 I believe) to go to his Heavenly Home. Joan, may the kindness and care for many be blessed by our Heavenly Father! - Posted by: Cam Neirinck (Friend/Marvin's work Buddie) on: Mar 28, 2025
