Richard McLeod, aged 76, passed peacefully in the early hours of Monday, March 24, 2025, with his daughter Katherine holding his hand and son Dan by his side.
Richard is survived by his sister Cathy (Bryan) Minnis, his daughter Katherine (Trent), son Dan (Cherry), grandchildren Nova, Sage, River and Tineesha.
Richard is predeceased by his loving wife Barbara Jane, his parents John and Eva and his sister Barbara.
Richard grew up hunting waterfowl with his Dad and that love for the outdoors stuck with him his entire life. Deer hunting near Belmont with his best friend Donny Lampkin were some of his favourite times spent outdoors. Later Richard loved going fishing with his son Dan and friend Russ. He loved his walleye fishing and eating them too. Richard loved growing tomatoes and marigolds. He enjoyed the simple things in life like having his morning coffee on the front porch with his dog Buck and a smoke. Richard loved to host and seemed to always have something cooking or on the BBQ with enough for everyone.
Richard had a special connection with his granddaughters Nova and Katherine. Together they shared daily phone calls and visits.
Thank you to the compassionate and professional staff at Bethesda place for Richard's care and dignity.
There will be a celebration and remembrance of Richard's life at a later date.

Always enjoyed getting together with family at Aunt Irene’s and Uncle Georges in Stonewall. We hadn’t seen Richard for a number of years but family was always in our minds, sorry we lost contact with a lot of the family. Unfortunately everyone is busy with their own lives we don’t have time for family gatherings anymore, Cathy I heard you also are not well we wish you the best. - Posted by: Geri & Wayne Slobodian (Cousin) on: Apr 06, 2025

Richard was a loving and kind person. Family meant a lot to him. I have never forgotten that he gave a job to our oldest son in Ricki’s warehouse. When we both lived in the Maples Lorne and I would stop by for a visit when we were out riding our bikes or running into him at Safeway grocery shopping. Lorne has fond memories of playing tennis with him at Toniata beach and also playing slow pitch in Winnipeg. - Posted by: Jackie and Lorne Yurkiewich (Cousin) on: Mar 31, 2025

My deepest condolences to Danny, Katherine and family. So sorry to hear of Richard passing. I worked with Richard at Ricki's for over 25 years. So many fond memories, he was always there with a helping hand, advice/ conversation and a smile/laugh. Rest in Peace. - Posted by: Franca (Perillo-Johnson) on: Mar 31, 2025

Richard took me under his wing when I was in my teens. He was my mentor and big brother. I couldn't wait for the days when he would pick me up to go hunting. Richard, George and I were really good at hunting water fowl and partridge usually coming home with our limits. That was a very special time in my life and will always be grateful for his companionship. You hold a very special place in my heart. Always remembered, forever loved. RIP My Friend. - Posted by: Larry Goodchild (Cousin) on: Mar 29, 2025
