On Sunday, March 30, 2025, Millicent “Betty” Templeton passed away peacefully at Fairview Home.
Betty is survived by her children, Nancy (Steve) and Ken (Dana); her grandchildren, Jordanna, Taylor (Moumen), Madison, Bob (Bridgette) and Beverly; great-grandchildren, Cruz, Gage, Hunter, Ella, Sophia, Adam and Daphanne. She is also survived by her siblings: Donald, Robert (Guelda), Glendon (Joanne), Jeff (Laylia), Christopher (Norma), Margaret and Linda (Cleo).
Born in St. John, New Brunswick, Betty resided there until she met John, whom she married in 1955. As a military family, they moved frequently, living in Fredericton New Brunswick, Kingston and Petawawa Ontario, Camp Catterick England and Valcartier, Quebec. Their family grew along the way, and Nancy was born in 1955 and Ken in 1960. The move to Brandon became their permanent home and they eventually built their dream house on Oak Bluff Road.
Betty had a passion for both sports and fashion. An avid golfer, she also loved bowling and curling. If she wasn’t playing, she was watching hockey and golf were always on when you visited her. She also took immense joy in supporting her three granddaughters at their sporting events. She was always the most enthusiastic cheerer at dance recitals and never failed to bring her cowbell to hockey games! Betty’s sense of style was just as vibrant as her personality; she was always the best dressed in the room, and to her, no outfit was complete without a little—or a lot—of sparkle!
Over the years, Betty and John shared a love for travel, exploring destinations like Hawaii, Belize, and Venezuela, to name a few. They embraced every adventure with excitement and always came home with stories to share. After John’s retirement in 1990, they made the most of their free time by spending winter at their home in Florida, where they could golf, soak up the sunshine, and enjoy life to the fullest.
Betty was a remarkable woman who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the staff at Fairview, whose kindness, care, and compassion over the past five years have meant so much.
The Celebration of Betty’s Life will take place at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, Brandon, MB on Monday, April 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.

So very sorry to learn of Betty's passing. Over the years, we had many fun visits with both her and John. Picking raspberries from their garden became an annual event for Garry and John, while Betty supervised and then prepared a lovely lunch. We never ever saw her without hair, makeup and dress being immaculate. She loved glitz and wore it well! Please accept our Condolences and know that we are thinking of you at this time. - Posted by: Garry and Colleen Miller (Friend) on: Apr 12, 2025

Our deepest condolences to Ken, Nancy and families. Betty was such an energetic light and certainly lived her life to the fullest. Every time we seen her, she was dressed to the nines, hair and makeup perfectly done with jewelry to top it all off. Our thoughts are with you and she will be missed. - Posted by: Karen Hurl (Friend) on: Apr 02, 2025
