Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryETHEL MARIE GOODALL
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ethel Marie Goodall announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at West Park Manor Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, MB. Ethel was 102 years old.
Living a long, healthy life, Ethel was predeceased by many family members including: her parents, Michael and Florence (Wilson) Drashcovich, her brothers, George, Robert, Eddie, and Jack, her first husband Danny Smith, her second husband, Charles Alfred (Alf) Goodall, her daughter, Ruth Darlene Smith, her stepson, Alfred Goodall, daughter-in-law, Gwen Goodall, and grandson Todd Goodall.
Ethel leaves to mourn her children: Roberta (Charles) Brown of Winnipeg, MB, Richard (Carol Clifford-Smith) of Aylmer ON, and Rae (Brent White) of Brandon, MB. Also mourning her loss are Ethel's stepchildren: Robert (Judy) Goodall, Bruce Goodall (partner Joan Matkaluk), Janice (Gord) Forman, Terrence (Sandy) Goodall and Alf Jr.’s widow Susan Goodall.
Ethel was born October 5, 1922, to Michael and Florence (Wilson) Drashcovich of Plumas, MB. Ethel was the only daughter of five children. The family relocated to Winnipeg when Ethel was a preteen after the family-owned hotel burned down.
Ethel met her first husband, Danny Smith, at the family-owned CN café on Osborne. Danny was a machinist with the CNR. Ethel and Danny married in October 1940 and later welcomed Roberta, Richard, Ruth, and Rae into their lives. Ethel became a widow at a young age when husband Danny passed in 1963.
Ethel was blessed to fall in love a second time and marry Charles Alfred (Alf) Goodall in 1970. She became a loving stepmother to Alf's children. Ethel and Alf enjoyed a long and happy marriage of 45 years until Alf's passing in 2015 at 100 years of age.
With such a large family, Ethel delighted in having many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed celebrating their birthdays, buying their Christmas gifts, entertaining at the lake, and following their personal achievements. In the many years she lived on Fisher Avenue she made many friends, and hosted many family events.
Ethel's other family was her church family. It was at the neighbourhood church in Fort Rouge, St. Alban's, where Ethel had her children baptized, confirmed, a daughter married, and her own second wedding administered. She made many close friends in the church parish and appreciated the support and frequent visits of Vera Rosolowich and Doreen Blackman.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Shaftesbury Park Retirement Residence and West Park Manor Personal Care Home for loving and caring for our precious mom, "Ethel-mom", mother-in-law, grandma, and great-grandma.
As per Ethel's wishes, cremation has taken place. Ethel's interment and Celebration of Life are being planned for a later date at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery. A notice and date will be filed in late June in the Winnipeg Free Press.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to West Park Manor Personal Care Home would be appreciated.

Condolences to the family. Ethel was a wonderful and beautiful lady. Ethel and Alf were the first people to welcome me as their neighbour in 1971. They were the best as friends and neighbours. Ethel was truly my "North Star". RIP beautiful lady. - Posted by: Diane Tokarchuk (Long time neighbour) on: Apr 05, 2025
