LAWRENCE MOORE

Lawrence Moore passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025 at the Arborg Hospital at the age of 94.

Lawrence was born and raised in Matlock on July 26, 1930. Everyone that knew him called him Dully, which was a nickname given to him by his grade six teacher. Dully was a self employed carpenter into his mid 70s and built many homes around the area. As a young boy, he played hockey and later got into the game of curling and enjoyed it very much. He also enjoyed his country music, especially the fiddle which both his older brothers played. Up until recently, the highlight of his week was to go every Saturday to the city to watch his favourite country band. He had many friends both young and old, who will deeply miss him.

He was the best dad ever, always there for you and will be dearly missed by his children, Jilldene, Colleen (Rob), Kyle (Mel), Tyrone (Shelly) and Tara; stepson Grant (Val) and many grand and great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dr. Wilson, the Selkirk Hospital as well as the Arborg Hospital for their compassion and care.

Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I just heard about Dully's passing. I only knew him starting about 2 years ago. I remember that he was very clear in his head despite his advanced years, and that he was an interesting and pleasant "fixture" at "The Spike." I hope his departure was painless. Please accept my belated condolences. Paul Huebert. - Posted by: Paul Huebert (friend) on: Apr 18, 2025

  • I’ve known Dully through the work he did at my cabin many years ago, roofing and deck work. I remember him as a very easy going man who took pride in whatever job he was doing. My deepest condolences to his family. He was greatly liked and respected. - Posted by: Shawna Rice (Friend) on: Apr 12, 2025

  • Our deepest Condolences to you and your family. Our thoughts are with you. Janet and Marcel. - Posted by: marcel lemire (friend) on: Apr 12, 2025
