Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEARL (ARIE) PERLMUTTER
We are saddened to announce the passing of our dear friend and cousin Arie Perlmutter at the age of 77. Arie died peacefully after a brief but difficult struggle with cancer on April 12, 2025.
He was predeceased by his parents, Hymie and Thelma and by his beloved sister Sheila.
Arie developed and maintained many close friends throughout his life. He attended St. John’s High in the 60s and kept in touch with many of his classmates. He began his working life as a delivery driver for City Bread. This was followed by a career of over 20 years at Advance Electronics, where he was a well-respected and expert sales associate. He hung out at North End Sals, for virtually his entire life, discussing (arguing? kibitzing?) with many people too numerous to name, the issues of the day but especially about sports, and most especially about baseball.
In his retired life, he was a member of Larters Golf Club, golfing with much enthusiasm and passion, if not prowess. Arie donated to and volunteered at the Winnipeg Humane Society for many years.
His family and friends would like to thank the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital whose compassionate and caring attention to Arie in his final days was truly a great comfort to him.
In keeping with Arie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral will be held.

As young teenagers we were good friends. He was a terrific friend & wonderful inspiration to all who knew him. Arie had many interesting & wonderful anecdotal experiences with his dear friends. One I can relate... We nicknamed him ...The Golden Toe. Our AZA team the Eskies....we're down 2 points on the last play of the game....20 yds out of the end zone. No one had ever kicked a field goal in this league. Arie in the huddle asked to do so. We caved & aquiested to his request. I was privileged as the qterback to make the final decision to let him do so. Hike...pin...kick. Right threw the middle of the posts. About 25 yds out. We won the game by one point & the team carried Arie off the field on our shoulders. The next day... Arie showed up at the North End Sals (where many of us would hang the day after a game) with the toe area on his Keds "K"icking foot painted gold. Thus... The Golden Toe came into being. He, BC and me skipping the afternoons on day six and day three; Ari helped me survive high school at St. Johns with his mom's turquoise blue Chevy Biscayne. He would remain my friend until the very end. Arie's wit and charm lives on with his memory in my heart. Fogg - Posted by: Allan Fogg (Long time bud) on: Apr 26, 2025

I am so sorry to hear of Arie's passing. He was one of the kindest and most honorable people I have ever known. I remember the good times we had. Arie was very knowledgable at trivia and many an hour was spent enjoying all the contests we held. I also remember all the discussions about life and love at University and Arie's great sense of humor. I and so many others will miss him. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Jim Weidman (Friend) on: Apr 19, 2025

Very sad to hear of Arie’s passing. I first met Arie in the late 70s, worked with him in the 80s and maintained a friendship ever since. Through the last 25 years we’ve met at Sal’s for breakfast. A very interesting and kind man, he will be missed. - Posted by: John Sanders (Friend) on: Apr 19, 2025

Arie Perlmutter was, from the day I discovered him until he retired, my go-to guy at Advance. His product knowledge and assessment of my technical qualifications kept me, several times, from buying what my covetous eyes wanted but didn't need. Instead he directed me to what was appropriate and he was always right. He was bright, happy, and willing to point out not only the advantages of a particular product or TV size, but also the disadvantages I should consider. It was always a joy to deal with him. - Posted by: Sheldon Bowles (Customer) on: Apr 19, 2025
