JAMES EDGAR BOYD
Peacefully on April 12, 2025 Ed passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 96.
He will be missed by his beloved wife Merle of 73 years. Also left to mourn are his children Allan (Janice), Karen (David), Lyle (Helen), six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sisters Kay, Edith, and Mary.
Ed was raised on a farm in La Riviere and started to work with the Manitoba Power Commission in 1947 during the farm electrification program. He married Merle Hammond of Wood Bay District in 1951.
Throughout his career with Manitoba Hydro, both in supervisory and management positions, he worked in many locations which included Beausejour, Virden, and Winnipeg, where he and his wife Merle met numerous lifetime friends. Ed retired from Manitoba Hydro in 1986 as the Maintenance & Construction Manager - Central Region.
During Ed’s lifetime he enjoyed hunting, fishing, curling, many construction projects, and Merle and Ed enjoyed world travelling. Ed and Merle enjoyed having family and friends at their cottages at Lake Winnipeg and Davidson Lake.
We would like to thank the staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and compassion.

Service will be held at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on Friday, April 25 at 2:00 p.m.

Merle, although I have not seen you often over many years, I thought of you & Ed many times. I send you & your family my deepest sympathy. You will have many happy memories of the 70+ years you & Ed were married. I am sorry that I wasn’t able to go to Chapel Lawn today, but thought of you all today..
