Dr. Dennis Giesbrecht, age 88, of Steinbach, Manitoba, passed away surrounded by family, on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.
He is survived by his beloved wife Rose, his sister Lorna, brother Harvey and sister-in-law Judy, his six children, Brent, Kim, Janel, Carla, Scott, and Jodi, as well as 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Ivy and Evy and his brother Ron.
Dennis was a man of many interests. Despite a demanding medical career as an anesthetist in Steinbach, Dennis found time to pursue his many pastimes, including playing the violin, gardening, astronomy, local theatre, gliding, and reading anything he could get his hands on. He also shared his time with others, contributing considerably to his community, serving for many years on the Hanover School Board, volunteering for the Steinbach Arts Council, Steinbach Public Library, and teaching Sunday School. Dennis was also a member of Providence College and Seminary for several years. Above all, however, he valued his time with family and friends, and was fortunate to surround himself with both.
The funeral service was held on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations in Dennis' memory may be made to Steinbach Community Outreach.
Special thank you to friends and family who supported Dennis during his final days, as well as the wonderful nurses and doctors at Bethesda Regional Health Centre.
