With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Maureen Ingibjorg White on March 19, 2025, at the age of 82, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She passed peacefully with her two sons by her side and was reunited with her beloved husband, Jim.
Maureen was born in Selkirk, Manitoba, and raised on Hecla Island, where her lifelong love of family and community first took root. She was a devoted mother to Brad (Sheila) and Brent (Tayo), and a proud Amma to James, Emma, and Manon. Her family was her greatest joy, and she filled their lives with love, laughter, and unwavering support.
Maureen shared a special bond with many extended family and friends, including the Stafford, Corbett, Eakin, McNaughton, Oakes, and Stewart families—and with her beloved niece, Valerie Morrison. These relationships were not only lasting but life-giving, and she held each one close to her heart as part of her true family.
Her kind spirit, sense of humour, and ability to make everyone feel welcome will be missed dearly.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the palliative care team at St. Boniface Hospital for their extraordinary compassion and care in Maureen’s final days.
A celebration of Maureen’s life will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, MB.
