ROGER CARRIERE

July 6, 1943 - April 30, 2025

In Loving Memory

With heavy hearts but grateful spirits, we announce the passing of Roger Carriere on April 30, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in Flin Flon, Manitoba, on July 6, 1943, Roger lived a full and vibrant life marked by hard work, adventure, and deep love for his family.

Roger was a devoted husband to Roberta and a proud father to his daughters, Leah (Dan Roche) and Lori (Todd Thurston). He was predeceased by his parents, Armand and Jeanne Carriere and two siblings. He was a cherished brother, brother-in-law, and friend to many.

Roger spent his career as a skilled autobody mechanic. He had a love to build and renovated eight homes and two cottages.

After retirement, Roger and Roberta embraced their love for travel, exploring the world together and spending countless joyful winters in Mexico. His warm smile, storytelling, sense of humour and adventurous spirit will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

Join us to celebrate and share memories of Roger’s well lived life to be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk.

Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • I am so sorry for your loss in the death of Roger. You and your family are in my prayers. May he rest in peace and rise in glory. - Posted by: Lynette & Gerry Miller (Friends) on: May 12, 2025

  • My thoughts are with you Leah and Lori, and your Mom Roberta. My heart knows your sadness as I lost my Dad just a few months ago. I remember meeting Roger and Roberta just once when Leah and I took a drive out to St. Pierre. Very friendly, warm and welcoming people. That was about 35 years ago - the only time I've ever been to St. Pierre. May the comfort of your memories ease your sorrow, and know he will always be with you. Fond condolences, Judi - Posted by: Judith Gaminek (former work colleague and friend of Leah & Lori) on: May 08, 2025

  • So sorry to hear of Roger’s passing. From introducing us to Bucerias and reintroducing me to good tequila, to showing me how to put those darn IKEA cupboards together, to all our SBHH get togethers and to just enjoying a cold one on a hot day his friendship will be sorely missed. ‘Roger the Short’ - Posted by: Roger Batchelor (Friend) on: May 07, 2025

  • Dear Roberta and family. I’m sending my deepest thoughts of a very special man. The taller Roger so fondly shared his memories of your many travels around the world and particularly Australia. He truly loved it. Happy hours were so much fun and he will leave an empty chair in our circle. My love to you all and with time you may heal and remember all the wonderful times spent together. Much love Audrey - Posted by: Audrey Batchelor (Friend) on: May 07, 2025

  • Dear Roberta and family members. I will truly miss the taller Roger and all our fun happy hours together. Roger's travel stories in Australia in particular were his fondest I think and loved hearing about all the other travels too. He sure was a handy man too and offered his help to my shorter Roger all the time. They built kitchen cupboards and installed new windows are just a few wonderful memories I have of a fantastic person with a huge smile for all. Until we meet again in that beautiful garden 🍷Cheers my dear friend. All my love 💕 Audrey - Posted by: Audrey Batchelor (Friend) on: May 04, 2025

  • Dear Roberta and family, My condolences for Roger's passing. I have fond memories of the times spent with you and Roger during the time we spent teaching in La Broquerie. He was always there with enthusiasm to support or participate. From lively staff parties, acting in whacky bonspiel talent shows or golf wind-ups he was there with a great smile. Together you lived an adventurous fun filled life. You were a perfect team. To Roger, without whom the past would have no meaning. Warm hugs. Cathy. - Posted by: Cathy Gamble (Friend) on: May 03, 2025
