Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAWRENCE DUBOIS
After a life well-lived, Lawrence Dubois, of Brandon, died peacefully on May 2, 2025. Lawrence was born in Storthoaks, SK on August 10, 1933, attending school in Bellegarde, SK, followed by St. Edmond School, and Gravelbourg College.
He met Noreen Gibney, a nurse working in Redvers, and the rest is history. They were married in Canora, SK in 1954. They lived in various Saskatchewan locations where Lawrence completed his electronics studies, and started his broadcasting career in Yorkton. In 1961, he pursued a position at CKX TV, where eventually he became chief engineer.
More importantly, Lawrence and Noreen raised their five children in the Catholic Faith, the foundation of their life and marriage. In 1963, he was a founding member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St Augustine Church, helping the poor in Brandon. He was a very active Knight of Columbus, helping to run their hockey Tournament of Champions. He also achieved his pilot’s license. After retirement, he resumed playing his violin, joining the Brandon Community Orchestra. He was always game to go camping, and he tinkered in his workshop constantly. He could fix anything. Lawrence also loved a good dance. His quiet demeanor and disarming smile endeared him to many.
Lawrence is survived by his wife of 71 years, Noreen, sons Charles (Laura), Michael (Tanis), Denis (Monica), Richard (Christine), and daughter Jacqueline (Bruce) Miles. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, all of whom visited him before he died, including his four-day old great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by his four siblings, Agnes, Helen, Margaret, and Tom.
We can imagine him now in his camping hat, screwdriver in his pocket, sitting by the campfire with a beer in his hand, at a family reunion for the ages. May he rest in peace as he has now seen the face of God.
