WITOLD KINSNER

January 21, 1945 - April 28, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Dr. Witold Kinsner, who passed away peacefully with his family by his side.

He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and teacher. Witold will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jean, his children Michael (Jasmine) and Kathleen (William), his beloved grandchildren Winston and Tilly, step-granddaughter Allura, and brothers and sisters-in-law and their families.

Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Witold spent his formative years in Poland. He came to Canada in 1970 as a graduate student, with a passion for education as the means to a more humane world. This passion turned to purpose and was the heart of his life’s work.

Witold had a long and accomplished teaching and research career at the University of Manitoba in the Computer and Electrical Engineering department and became Professor Emeritus upon retirement in June 2023. Over his five decades teaching, he remained dedicated to the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE), many outreach programs, and other organizations close to his heart, always with education as the main focus.

His family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at CancerCare Manitoba, the Palliative Care Program, and Riverview Health Centre, for their dedicated and compassionate care.

A funeral service will be held on May 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, with a reception immediately after.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice or to the Jean and Witold Kinsner ENGAP Scholarship at the University of Manitoba at https://give.umanitoba.ca/.
