It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Claire Desharnais on May 3, 2025, at the Repos Jolys Personal Care Home in St. Pierre Jolys at the age of 103.
She was born on June 13, 1921, in St. Elizabeth, MB to a large family of 11 children. Her parents were Rosario and Rosine (Sabourin) Dupuis. Upon completion of her schooling she attended Normal School in Winnipeg and obtained a teaching certificate and taught for eight years in various one room school houses in the St. Jean Baptiste and St. Pierre Jolys area. This was where she met her husband, Armand Desharnais, with whom she later operated a dairy farm. Claire and Armand had seven children: Leonard, René (deceased), Lise, Marc, Pierre, Gisèle and Lucie, and can count many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as descendants.
Claire can be particularly characterized as a woman of great faith and piety who exemplified the importance of being of service to her family, her community and to her parish. She volunteered frequently in her parish as a lector and choir member as well as in several local organizations and was appreciated for her friendly manner and sense of duty. She will be greatly missed by all.
We wish to thank the staff at the Repos Jolys for their excellent care of our dear Claire.
The funeral service will be held at St. Pierre Parish in St. Pierre Jolys on June 14 at 1:00 p.m.

Dear family we are sharing your grief and offering you all our prayers and sympathy. This lady was so special, I’m sure god welcomed her with open arms. May her departure remind us that a great faith in god is the way to a long life.
