DWIGHT CLARK

1946 – 2025


Dwight Clark, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, at the age of 78. Dwight was born on July 4, 1946, to Orville and Margaret Clark, Dwight lived a life marked by dedication to his family, hard work, and service to his community.

A devoted family man, Dwight is survived by his loving wife of almost 58 years, Linda Clark; his well loved dog Coco, his children, Carol Koren (Franc) and Dwayne Clark (Crys); his six cherished grandchildren, Shane (Victoria), Justin, Greg, Sam, Liam, and Hilary (Lucas); and his great-granddaughter Addison. He also leaves behind his brothers, Roger, Kerry (Sue), sisters, Bonnie, Shannon (Jullian) and sister-in-law Connie. Dwight was predeceased by his parents, Orville and Margaret Clark, stepmother Patricia Lawrence, his dear brother Ed and best friend Moe Lawrence. He also has many nieces, nephews and cousins who were all very special to him.

Dwight was born in Baldur, MB. His early years were spent in Baldur where he formed fond memories and lasting friendships. Due to the early death of his mother Margaret, he spent time living with his grandparents, Walter and Teressa Clark. Dwight carried their values, kindness and perseverance throughout his life. Dwight always spoke very fondly of these days.

The family moved to Winnipeg for a few years then to Stonewall, MB in his early teens. Dwight completed high school at Stonewall Collegiate. Along with his diploma he earned awards for his mathematics skills. After graduation, Dwight moved to Thompson, MB to work at Thompson Mine (Inco).

He moved back to Winnipeg to marry his bride Linda in 1967. They made St. James their home and started their family.

Dwight was a jack of all trades, he could really do anything and had a variety of jobs in the early years, some at the same time. He worked for Winnipeg Municipal Hospital making prosthetic limbs and repairing electric wheelchairs. He made wooden toys and play structures for Montessori schools, he had his own home renovations business and installed curtains for The Bay. He was also employed by Winnipeg Electric.

Dwight spent 32 years as a dedicated employee of Manitoba Hydro (Intercity Gas and Centra Gas) where his strong work ethic and friendly demeanor earned him the respect of colleagues. After retirement in 2008, he remained active in his community and was able to spend more time with family.

He never missed an opportunity to drive out to BC to visit his daughter Carol and help in any way he could. He also loved working together with his son Dwayne, both at work and on home projects. Dwight was a great and patient mentor.

Dwight enjoyed being part of his community. He was a very active volunteer at St. Charles C.C. He enjoyed coaching his kid’s sports, organizing events. He always was first to start making the outdoor ice at the rinks. He enjoyed fostering connections with neighbours and community.

Known for his warm smile, unforgettable laugh, gentle nature, and unwavering support for his family, Dwight’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched.

The Clark family would like to thank the medical and support staff on 5 North at the Grace Hospital for their care, compassion and friendship over the last eight months. Also, a big thank you to Joanne Diakiw of Nurse Advocates and Navigators (NAN) for her invaluable guidance and support over the last few months.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday May 30, 2025 at the Assiniboia West Recreation Assoc. (formerly St. Charles CC) 861 Buchanan Blvd. from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.. Please come to visit with the family and share your memories.

Interment will be Saturday May 31, 2025 at the Baldur Cemetery, Baldur, MB, 12 noon with refreshments and snacks to follow at the Legion Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to JDRF (now called Breakthrough T1D), Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Grace Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice in Dwight’s memory.
