With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Giuseppe (Joe) Ippolito, who left us on May 1, 2025, at the age of 85.
Born in Gangi, Sicily, Italy, Giuseppe was a devoted husband, a proud father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and cherished friend to many. His life was rooted in love, resilience, and unwavering faith. A dedicated welder, proud Italian-Canadian, and tireless community volunteer, he leaves behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, and deep devotion to his family and beliefs.
Giuseppe will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Maria (née Capizzi); his children, Carmelo (Johanne), Joe, and Anna (Daniel); his grandchildren, Christopher (Shantel), Marco, Gabriel, and Julia; and his great-grandchildren, Dakota, Gavin, Austin, and Greyson. He is also survived by his sister Nuccia in Switzerland and many extended family members in Canada and abroad.
The title of "Nonno" was the greatest honour Giuseppe could have received. His grandchildren were his pride and joy - the true center of his world. He affectionately called them "Gioia" meaning "joy" in Italian, a reflection of just how much they meant to him.
Condolences will be received on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue, with Father Michael Raj Savarimuthu and Father Sam Argenziano presiding. A reception will follow at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. A private interment is planned.
We want to extend our deepest gratitude to our brother Joe, who has been a constant support to both of our parents the past few years, caring for them with love and dedication when they needed it most.
