BERNARD (BERNIE) WAYNE WILSON

November 17, 1940 – May 12, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce that Bernie passed away on May 12, 2025 in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 84.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Judy Loxton; sister Gayle (Jake) from BC; son Guy (daughter Leah) from ON; son Scott (DeeDee); grandchildren William; Caitlyn; Samantha (Jay); great-grandchild Harvey from ON.

Predeceased by his parents Helen & Matt Wilson; his 41-yr old pet bird “Mr. Magoo”. His 2-yr old pet dog “Teddy” is truly missing cuddling with him.

Bernie spent a portion of his younger years working on tugboats every summer out of Harrison Hot Springs, BC. He also was a mechanic at Kimberly-Clark of Canada Ltd in Winnipeg, MB for many years. He then went into Real Estate (as a seller, manager & broker) for various companies before his retirement.

Bernie had many friends with whom he liked to socialize with and was the life of many parties. In his earlier years, he liked to build go-carts and race them in the US. He also enjoyed going to the US with his friends watching car racing and football. He spent many years boating at Lake of The Woods, ON and cottaging at Spruce Bay Heights, MB.

Bernie was my life’s existence and I will miss him immensely; for we did everything together. Bernie used to tease me that I constantly led when we danced. Now I am leading him to Heaven’s Gates.

In Accordance with Bernie’s wishes, cremation/burial will take place and no formal service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare.

Afterglow

I’d like the memory of me

to be a happy one.

I’d like to leave an afterglow

of smiles when life is done.

I’d like to leave an echo

whispering softly down the ways,

Of happy times and laughing times

and bright and sunny days.

I’d like the tears of those who grieve,

to dry before the sun

Of happy memories

that I leave when life is done.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • When I think of Bernie, an immediate smile washes over my face. We were colleges at Delbro RE what seems like a life time ago now. Our motto was work hard, play hard, have fun, be kind. We most certainly did all that! I remember so many great company functions where he was definitely the life of the party. One particular Lip Sync Skit Night was a stand out… We all worked so hard on our team skits . The prize, bragging rights and a stainless sink with a pair of inflatable lips! Another occasion we came to visit, he showed our kids the trick of Mr McGoo dunking a basket. They were so taken by how talented he was . Bernie was a kind caring man with a heart of gold, loved by all Rest in peace my friend.~ Tracy & James - Posted by: Tracy McLachlan (College) on: May 17, 2025
