RONALD BOYD JOHNSON

March 22, 1957 - May 25, 2025

With deep sadness the family of Ronald Boyd Johnson, 68, announces his passing on May 25, 2025, with loved ones by his side.

Boyd is survived by his loving wife Susan, daughter Keri (Randall) and grandchildren Austin, Jordynn, and Brantley. He also leaves behind sister Heather and brother Dean. Boyd is predeceased by his parents William and Evelyn Johnson.

Boyd was born March 22, 1957, in Minnedosa, MB but grew up and spent most of his adult life in Winnipeg. He moved to Beausejour 5 years ago and grew to love the quieter lifestyle.

Boyd retired in 2012 after a 30-year career at the Headingley Correctional Centre. Throughout his career he worked in numerous areas of the jail with varying responsibilities. He was proud to have been awarded the Corrections Exemplary Service Medal in 2009.

Boyd and Sue met after she also started working at HCC and they married in 1991. They made a life filled with love, laughter and lasting memories. They shared a love of travel, home and family.

As Boyd neared retirement, he found new part-time employment as a movie extra. He was proud of being given a speaking role in his first movie, Capote. He went on as an extra in many movies, television shows and commercials.

Boyd was an avid golfer starting out as a caddy at St. Charles. After retirement he fulfilled a dream by becoming a member at Pine Ridge Golf Club. He never missed an opportunity to golf with friends and his regular group of guys.

Boyd hated winters and after retirement he and Sue spent those months in Phoenix. Over the past 5 years they made Mesa their second home where he continued to golf and even play baseball.

Boyd always had a joke, smile and laugh. He enjoyed being around people and people enjoyed having him around.

A special thank you to the caring staff of both Beausejour and St. Boniface emergency rooms.

A Celebration of Boyd’s Life is planned for Wednesday, June 18 at 11:00 a.m. where memories, food and beverages can be shared. It will be held at the Brokenhead River Community Hall, Beausejour Room, 320 Veterans Lane, Beausejour, MB.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Boyd and I met when I started working at HCC in 1999. He was my supervisor, mentor and good friend. Boyd and I had many great adventures together. I had the great pleasure of being one of the Honour Guards for Boyd's Corrections Exemplary Service Medal in 2009. In 2012, I had another honour to share with Boyd and that was his retirement speech at HCC. Boyd was larger than life in many ways, and I, along with many others will miss him dearly. • Boyd and I only met a handful of times. Yet I will never forget how friendly and welcoming he is. His huge smile and positive presence is a gift to all. Wherever he is now, I hope he is received in that loving way that he showed everyone. John Duma - Posted by: John Duma (Susan’s cousin) on: Jun 10, 2025
